Being popular in a booming category is one thing, but it's another challenge when it comes to a category in decline. So, imagine how difficult it becomes to stand out for a car that isn't even among the leaders in its category. That's the situation the Kia Forte 2024 must contend with. Fortunately, the Korean manufacturer's compact sedan has strong arguments in its favor. It is a balanced and modern car, and it is also among the most affordable models currently available on the market, which is a significant advantage.

Kia has built a solid reputation in recent years, and the brand is at the top of reliability surveys. In my opinion, the Forte's lower popularity is mainly explained by current market trends that guide buyers, especially towards SUVs and electric vehicles—two categories the Korean manufacturer's compact sedan does not belong to. It is understandable that the Forte would enjoy immense success if the compact sedan category were the most popular in the industry, as it is a good car overall.

Range and Prices

The average selling price for a new vehicle has significantly increased in recent years, primarily due to the withdrawal of many affordable vehicles from the market. Fortunately, there are still models whose starting price is almost three times lower than the average selling price of a new vehicle. This is the case with the Kia Forte 2024, with its base model costing $21,095 before transportation and preparation fees, bringing the total to $23,666.50.

  • LX — $23,666.50
  • EX – $25,366.50
  • EX+ - $27,066.50
  • EX Premium – $28,866.50
  • GT-Line – $30,766.50
  • GT-Limited—$34,066.50

Category and Competition

Some vehicle categories have experienced a surge in recent years, while others have taken a step back. This is notably the case for compact sedans, which include the Kia Forte 2024. As if that weren't enough, the Forte must compete with some of the biggest names in the industry, such as the Honda Civic, which has long been the best-selling car in the country, and the Toyota Corolla, which is still the best-selling car worldwide of all time. Nevertheless, the Kia Forte remains interesting; it has little to be criticized for and performs well in various aspects. Its interior is comfortable, packed with technology, and the assembly quality is impressive. Not to mention the enjoyment behind the wheel. It's a good car, there's no doubt about that.

Rivals: Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, Mazda3, Nissan Sentra, Subaru Impreza, Toyota Corolla, Volkswagen Jetta

Design and Technologies

Kia is one of those brands that gives you more value for your money, starting with the design of its cars. The Forte 2024 is a perfect example. It is an elegant and modern car with stylish design elements that age well over the years. Kia has successfully incorporated several unique stylistic elements, giving it a distinctive aesthetic signature.

Inside the Kia Forte 2024, one almost feels like in a luxury car. The soundproofing is impressive, as is the quality of the finishing. The dashboard design is balanced, and the seats are very comfortable. There may be a lack of color choices for the interior finish, but it's nothing unusual for a car in this category.

The Kia Forte 2024 doesn't fall short in terms of technology, both in safety and entertainment. Its multimedia system is simple and user-friendly. As you move up the trim levels, the technological aspect becomes even more interesting.

Performance

The Korean manufacturer's compact sedan offers two mechanical options, starting with the classic 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. It delivers 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque, paired with a CVT transmission, and only front-wheel drive is available. This setup allows for an average fuel consumption of 8.2 L/100 km in the city and 8.6 L/100 km on the highway. If you want more power, some Forte versions come equipped with a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine producing 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. This engine is also paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission, adding to the appeal. The only drawback is that it comes exclusively with front-wheel drive, and there is no manual transmission option. Ultimately, the Korean manufacturer's sedan remains very enjoyable to drive.

Weak Points

No manual transmission option.

Strong Points

It's a pleasant and highly functional car. It lacks nothing in terms of equipment, and its multimedia system sets a benchmark in the category.

Signature Element

I am certain that under the right circumstances, the Kia Forte could be among the most popular vehicles in the country.

Closing Thoughts

While some manufacturers have completely abandoned sedans, Kia seems to believe in them wholeheartedly. It is evident that the Forte is not merely there to meet a demand. There is work, finesse, and dedication in its design. It is a highly competitive car, and that's why I strongly recommend it.
